Pare che gli Arctic Monkeys abbiano rovinato il countdown per l'arrivo del 2012 in un festival australiano dopo aver lasciato il palco alle 23:58 del 31 Dicembre.
La band avrebbe dovuto dare il benvenuto al nuovo anno al Falls Festival a Lorne, Victoria, ma non sono stati informati del simbolico incarico.
Dopo aver suonato per più di un'ora la band ha lasciato il palco, pochi minuti dopo avrebbero dovuto dare inizio al countdown. I quattro di Sheffield sono tornati sul palco a 00:01, dove Alex Turner ha detto: "Mi dispiace, pensavamo che qualcun altro dovesse dare inizio al countdown...facciamolo ora, vi va?"
Al set degli Arctic Monkeys ha seguito la performance dei Crystal Castles. Altre bands hanno suonato al festival inclusi i Fleet Foxes e Metronomy.
